MANCHESTER, Dec 24 — Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar looks likely to retire at the end of the season, manager Alex Ferguson said yesterday.
The 40-year-old Dutch keeper’s retirement has been on the cards for some time and United have been preparing to have to fill some big boots by bringing in Dane Anders Lindegaard, who will be registered with the club early next month.
“We’re planning for it to be possibly Edwin’s last season,” Ferguson told a news conference.
