Michael Owen, One of My Favourites, to Retire

LONDON, March 19 — A career that was launched into orbit by a stunning goal against Argentina in the 1998 World Cup will end meekly 15 years later after Michael Owen announced today he will hang up his boots at the end of the season.

The former England striker, who made his first-team debut for Liverpool as a 17-year-old and also played for Real Madrid, Newcastle United and Manchester United, has almost disappeared from view at Stoke City for whom he signed last September.

“I now feel it is the right time to bring the curtain down on my career,” the injury-prone 33-year-old said on his personal website (http://www.michaelowen.com). 

“I have been very fortunate in that my career has taken me on a journey that like many young players starting out, I could only have dreamt of.”

Diminutive Owen had already shown his potential at Liverpool when he thrust himself onto the world stage with a sensational solo goal against Argentina in a 1998 World Cup second round defeat in St Etienne.

A natural striker with a devastating burst of pace, Owen went on to make 89 international appearances, scoring 40 goals to sit fourth on the all-time England goalscorers’ list.

Another famous England performance came in the 5-1 World Cup qualifying win in Germany in 2001 when he scored a hat-trick.

“It’s sad news for football that Michael Owen will retire. He’s been a fantastic football player for all the clubs he played for and for England,” Sven Goran Eriksson, his England coach from 2001-2006, told Britain’s Sky Sports News TV.

“He was very easy to manage. First of all, he’s a fantastic man — professional, never any problems on or off the pitch. If you had him in your team you knew that at any time he’s a danger, he can score the winning goal.

“Beating Germany 5-1, that couldn’t or shouldn’t happen. It was one of those games you can never forget. I felt very proud to be the manager of Michael Owen.”

Tua Pek Kong Predicted Good Year for Malaysia's Economy

GEORGE TOWN, Feb 24 ― The Year of the Snake will be a good one for Malaysia’s economy, a deity predicted during the annual “Chneah Hoay” (flame watching) ceremony at the Hai Choo Soo (Sea Pearl) Temple in Tanjung Tokong here.

The deity, Tua Pek Kong, predicted the economy would see improvement in the first quarter to be followed by robust growth in the second and third quarter.

Don't Play-Play With Lightning - You No Power Ranger

TELUK INTAN, Feb 16 — A student was killed while two others were injured after lightning struck a field they were playing football in Taman Desa Bakti, Jalan Kampung Banjar here this afternoon. 

Mohd Amir Alias, 15, died after being brought to a nearby surau while Mohd Amin Asrin, 16, and Mohd Shafiq Amirul Shamsuddin, 14, were injured and have been admitted to the Teluk Intan Hospital here.

The incident happened at 5.20pm when the trio together with eight friends were playing football in the field which is not far from the their school.

Mohd Amir, who is from Tapah near here, is said to have been directly hit by a lightning bolt. Taman Desa Bakti Neighbourhood Watch chairman Mohamad Darus, 54, said the boy was lifeless when brought the the surau.

“He no longer had a pulse. This is very sad indeed and something very unexpected,” he said.

Safatri Nazir, 15, who was among the players, said he helped to carry Mohd Amir, who was bleeding from the mouth with eyes open, to the surau.

Gangnam Style Coming to Penang on the 2nd Day of CNY ...!

Many but hopefully only some will be very happy to hear about the news...to see the very famous Gangnam Style to be performed in this land... in Penang to be exact. The best of all it will be on the second day of 2013 CNY and to be organised by Penang BN.... or the BN Penang of Chinese leaders who are now seemed to have lost of ideas of what to do to attract Penang people to come to like them after been dumped in 2008. Perhaps they think this is their final ace card to be thrown on the table in order to regain Penang in the soon to be held 13GE. RM one million are estimated to be spent for a short stunt by the group PSY... It was claimed by the organiser the money come from their supporters of rich businessmen... I wonder.... These last few days plenty of money has been flushed out like we flush our toilet bowls... where is this money come from...? I wonder how many of us would be that easily be bought over in exchange to part with their votes by just be given the 'gift' that enable them the 'best opportunity of their life' to watch live the iconic Gangnam Style for a brief of 30 minutes the most....Where can you get this opportunity in your entire life in this world if not of the fantastic idea of these BN leaders!

How To Control The Ever Increase House Price

House price would never decline, even if it declined it would be for a very short period.. because the power of willing buyer willing seller is so high and the nature of human's greed .... As population increases and the joy of the present youngsters who have a great desire to have their own house to laze around, to have their own comfort and cozy home, thus they will grab any available opportunity to own a home on their own... thus the willing buyer and willing seller phenomena... where prices of house escalated not based on its fair or fundamental values but merely the power of greed and desire to have own home and lots of money....

Chat with my brother-in-law about this topic recently.... and he has suggested a logical mechanism to control the unreasonable price of houses in the country, especially in Penang, KL and Johor Baru.... His basic mechanism of the system is for the government or power that be to  impose a 10% price reduction for every successful house transaction.... a system similar to the dealing of used car price. Therefore price of houses would not be pushed higher or speculated by the rich speculators or employees of housing developers.... No reason 90% of the units of a housing project can be so easily sold out within few hours on the first day of the launching of a project... must be a hanky-panky behind this.. and most of us know about it... but what to do.... herd mentality and greed.....everybody wants to own a house!!!!!

Why not implement my brother-in-law's suggestion;

10 % price reduction for every successful transaction

Example : If you bought a house at a price at RM500,000

then, if you want to sell it, the maximum price the same house could be sold out at RM 450,000.

Isn't that interesting?

In the long run the price of houses could be controlled and be capped at a minimum price and would not be pushed up without any solid reason.

At the opening of a conference after all the  pleasantries, Tun Dr Lim Keng Yaik  read a line which said that a programme his ministry had implemented had been received well by the rakyat. As soon as he finished the sentence, he blurted out the word "bullshit" which shocked the audience. 

He looked at senior ministry officials and asked "Who vetted this speech?" There was silence. He said, "I disagree; let's tell the truth and not put words into the rakyat's mouth."

P/S: I believe the late Tun Dr.LKY was the only head of a party in BN who was not severely ridiculed by the rakyat. This speak volume of his calibre and integrity. He might have regretted chosen a successor who seem to have destroyed PGRM he built up over a long period of his stewardship.

Many think of themselves as being smart. Few would want to be seen as fools. 

Everyone wants to act smart for the sake of power, interests and influences; no one would act foolish because you are bound to lose in real-world if you do. 

Smart people know not how to draw a line between personal gains and public welfare, while a fool knows the boundaries between what is public and what if private. 

P/S: Just because they think they are smart people, they think the world owe them all and they can just wallop anything they want. Fools are looked upon as their servants and be humiliated.

Smart people will not mind sacrificing their beliefs and public well-being for their own gains, while a fool cares only about the nation and community, often at the expanse of their personal interests. 

The problem is, this world was created by a bunch of fools who cared not their own gains. They had dreams and aspirations, all geared towards the well-being of their communities and the world. 

Just because there are too many smart, calculative people around, dreams and aspirations have been smothered. Our environment will be a much better place if we have more fools than smart people.
