It means you cannot earn the respect of thinking people.
You will not earn the regard of the people who have any maruah.
In other words the ordinary people. 
Ordinary people will have neither respect nor regard for you.
Who does 'you' refer to?
You refers to that category - those without maruah.

Those who can only live inside their cocoons and inside their ghettos.
The look alikes, talk alikes, laugh alikes, smell alikes.
