MOE Reply to Unhappy Teacher

Ministry of Education (MOE) would like to refer to an article by Unhappy Teacher, published in THE STAR dated 19 Jun 2011 on the issue of Senior teachers sidelined.
Lately, MOE has received a lot of complaints from teachers, expressing their dissappointment in the Ministry for not giving priority to senior teachers in terms of promotion.

Nevertheless, the Government believes in the policy of making the teaching profession prestigious by improving the quality of teachers and their careers, as well as making sure their welfare is taken care of. This is to ensure that the teaching profession is given a respectable place in the society as an acknowledgment for the heavy responsibility they carry in educating our future generation.

Therefore, in order to ensure that the implementation of the policy is thoroughly strong and beneficial to all teachers, the Government is currently working on the details and perfecting the implementation of the new concept as announced by the Education Minister during the celebration of Teachers Days 2011.

We would like to thank the reader for bringing this matter to our attention. The Ministry is actively working to improve service to our customers and the feedback has proved to be invaluable.
